It was 20 years ago today...
ok. so maybe not exactly today...but close enough!!!
can't believe that "The Queen is Dead" by The Smiths came out 20 years ago. wasn't i just sitting in the corner of my room being all sad b/c "...i could feel, the soil falling over my head..."
the Smiths figured so prominently in my adolescence, that to this day i still try to mimic Morrissey's coif...(up until recently, where i shaved it all off to start anew). every song from beginning to end vibrated through every fiber of my being. i mean, what says "i love you" better than "...if a double decker bus crashes into us, to die by your side, would be a heavenly way to die. and if a 10 ton truck kills the both of us, to die by your side, well, the pleasure the privilege is mine..."
i'm trying to make this me and the Sexy One's song...i'll let you know how it works out.
NME's June issue is celebrating this album w/ a chock full o' Smiths...enough to make me curl up in a ball in the shower whilst cold drops violate my naked form, sobbing oh so softly.
just remember..."some girls are bigger than others...and some girl's mothers are bigger than other girls mothers"
so true Moz, so true.
