I defer to the right in the "You Tube" column for something that i got into in my last week of clinicals...speed stacking.
All I can say is that we have one more thing to do on block island that may involve block island iced teas...

As per wikipedia, the world records are as follows:
Emily Fox's 4-year world record was beaten by Robin Stangenberg with a time of 7.41 seconds[4]. Then on April 15, 2007, David Wolf of Germany set the new world record of 7.25 seconds, at the 2007 World Sport Stacking Championships in Denver. Then the world record was broken by Steve Purugganan with a 7.23 in Attica, New York [2] Just weeks after this, David Wolf got the record back and did a 7.15s in Germany in November 2007.
In February 2008, Timo Ruehl made history by stacking the first ever sub seven cycle at a sanctioned tournament, 6.80. On February 16, Steven Purugganan took all three world records getting a 1.96 in the 3-3-3, a 2.38 in the 3-6-3, and a 6.65 in the cycle. Steven, with his brother Andrew also took the doubles world record, 7.84. On April 6, during the 2008 World Championships in Denver, Steven Purugganan broke two of these records. These are his current world records :

* 3-6-6 : 2.34 sec
* cycle : 6.21 sec

Hey look! A Dreamworks CG movie that doesn't suck like Shrek!!
So Kung Fu Panda...as the tagline promises...was awesome. It was pretty to look at, and it was fun.
Plus I saw it for 6 bucks. It really draws from the crouching tiger, hero, house o' flying daggers feel...but doesn't suck like shrek b/c it actually pays homage to it's inspiration instead of trying to parody it. Most importantly, jack black didn't annoy the s-word out of me.
I would have paid full price for it.

Clinicals
so far. so good. orientation is the best, b/c i don't have to do a thing. got to meet some of the students, poor jr. high school kids who think that high school is gonna be awesome. i won't spoil things for them, let them find out about hell on their own. so i like my CI (clinical instructor), quite laid back and the atmosphere is laid back. i get to go to a PT symposium (read: don't have to treat day!!) and it's the school system--out at 3! out at 2 on fridays!! i've got to get me a job here.
i'm applying for the board of ed scholarship again...maybe they'll come to their senses and gimme the money this year. i'm considering riding my bike to my affiliation-the bike tour is this sunday and i'm totally out of shape, as the bike ride i did on sunday almost killed me.
oh yeah---IRONMAN tomorrow!!! woo hoo!! there should be no other news. but...
i went out and splurged on a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so now i'm blogging from bed on my LCD TV.
laziness was never so technologically advanced!!!

Clinicals Commence!
Tomorrow. IS 5. Elmhurst. It begins. Can't wait.
The sitch since last posting:
- Finished spring semester, we're at the 1/2 way point folks--we can finish it! Oh god.
- Bought a new bike! a Specialized Crosstrail Sport , runs like a dream.
- Duncan finally departs for Aussieland! I think. keep fingers, toes crossed.
- Nancy runs the triathlon today. Good luck SN!! Actually she's probably 1/2 way through it right now.
- Gotz me my free tix to Ironman!! That's right. Awesome.
- Won free tix to see the Verve at WAMU/MSG tomorrow. Dede will be accompanying me as Nancy will be...tired, methinks. Awesome squared, I am.
In other news. Murphy, my first pup passed away a couple months ago. She was the best dog. 16 full years, more than any dog ever!!

It started out w/ a Maybach parked outside of the AMC 25 on 42nd st.-- J. pointed it out and i said "ooooh, cool"...followed by "and that's Russell Simmons in the car too." A couple o' double takes as we walk passed the car and J. and A. are wet, apparently they're big fans. So we're behind his car, J. says "let's how this goes down" b/c a cop car was pulled up behind it. nothing happened, of course. russell steps out of the car and crosses the street into the E-Walk theatre. he must of broken his foot b/c he was wearing a CAM boot. of course, i rush across the street to get behind him, knocking into a couple o' peeps (i have to talk street now, and wear phat farm b/c he has something to w/ that).
russell heads for the computer tix kiosk, i'm right behind him. He gets his tix, i pick up my tix for cloverfield (7:40pm--more on that later). i notice that there's a ticket left in the slot...alvin and the chipmunks. i show my findings to J. / A. who confirm that Russell is w/ his kids and they just went upstairs. i offer it to J., he's a big fan. "go run up there and give it to him". apparently, Russell's got some pull b/c after darting upstairs, we found that he already went through w/ his brood and up into the theatre. (insert sad downturned heads w/equally sad Snoopy/peanuts music here).
WHO CARES about mr. simmons...we were going to see cloverfield, a mystery wrapped in an enigma that's been looming over our heads since last summer w/ that stupid "Ethan Haas was right" webshite, and the damn Slusho website . we got there w/ a long line waiting for us. if you know me, you realize that i like being at the movies early enough to get good seats (read: 3 days before). i decide to do some recon and check to see where the theatre is to try to get a head start (read: cut in front of people). as luck would have it, i overhear the walkie talkie saying our theatre was open and slyfully zip up the escalator hand the dude my ticket and was the 1st person in the theatre and got super awesome seats--i am such the fiend. so we're sitting there and this dude gets up and starts taking pics w/ his SLR--so 1. he must be a D-bag b/c his collar is up, 2. he's taking pics in a movie theatre = tourist. but i point out to J. / A., a hot chick sitting in proximity. unfortunately for J. an ugly girl was in his way.
so the movie. i like it. a lot. 1. it's 85 minutes. remember when movies were short? despite some dawson's creek like he / she tension (which then makes sense later), the movie gets right into it. the monster is awesome and you can surf the web for more on what it looks like and some other goodies that made the movie pretty darn exciting. i liked that it was more plight of human suffering in the face of extreme adversity rather than monster attacks city and lots of things blow up and everyone is ok for it. what i will say is to watch carefully in the coney island scene...
ok. so movie ends we all get up. d-bag tourist pic taking guy gets up and thanks everyone for coming out and asks what we thought of the movie. He was one the main characters (quite memorable) and was w/ 2 of the girls from the movie too (1 was the girl we were checking out). it was kinda cool that they came to see what the reaction would be. the guy was outside the theatre taking pics w/ people and stuff which was nice...alas, the girls were nowhere to be found.
i say go see it. it is definitely a movie you can only experience in a movie theatre, or a very expensive home system. the effects, sound and visual were amazing and those of you who heard about the shaky cam--suck it up people, it's supposed to be video footage found after the incident. stupid.

In the wake of their newly crowned Number One title today for ‘In Rainbows’ the band have revealed they will play in the Us before their recently announced shows in the UK and Europe.

Nancy's DO-athalon!!
Only because there is no "Try". Nancy has joined up with Team in Training to participate in a triathalon. Here's what she has to say:
Racing to Save Lives
I am training to participate in a Olympic distance triathlon (.9 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run). Crazy, I know! As a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training we are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
